Even as a mom. I’ve gotten a lot of back lash over the name of my brand. Mom is King. Apparently Mom is King, has a connotation of being a member of the LBGTQ community or just being too dominate. First things first, Mom is King has absolutely nothing to do with the gay pride community. King is more of an acronym. Meaning Kind, intelligent, nurturing, and go-getter. In a world where moms are literally responsible for everything, do everything, and are looked down upon if we fall short in ANY area. We have to be Kings. Queens get played to often. Often viewed as soft and dainty, but still get taken advantage of, although she rules as well. Mom is king was birthed through daily trials, and tribulations. Mom is king represents those women who do all the house work, bring home the bacon, and cook the bacon. And let’s not forget to mention the moms who are married and still have to do these things, and more. I feel for you sis. In todays society, the expectation for most women to even be valued as women is almost impossible. But, we do it. Every single day. Shouts out to you for not complaining, going crazy or putting up with unnesccsary nonsense.

Whew* Now that that’s out of the way. I want you to remember who you are. Remember you may have had a mother too, who made you a plate, cleaned your room, gave you love and attention. Now that you are the giver of all these things, you have to remember you. Here are some ideas to include self care in your daily routine. This list will help you feel your mom is king vibe right away:

Go to SLeep earlier

Personally, I think this one is more easier said than done. I know we have a lot going on, but if can just shut your phone down 15 minutes earlier to give your body actual rest before sleep, you’ll feel much better. Now i’m no scientist or medical professional, but google has a wealth of knowledge (i know so bad, so bad). I’ve also been a personal test dummy on this idea, on myself. So heres how I do it. I go lay down at about 10:00pm 10:30 pm. Or whenever your bedtime is. We all know we don’t immediately go to sleep, in a world where sleep came easy, we wouldn’t need these posts. Put your phone down when you feel sleepy, face down, off, do not disturb, no notifications, etc. Now breathe deeply, think of numbers and colors, try a matching game in your head, maybe your outfit for tomorrow, an upcoming stress free event you’ll enjoy; just think happy soft thoughts. Now, it’s morning !

Hot Steamy Showers

If you’re a stay at home, work at home, basically everything at home mom. Then you need these hot steamy showers. Put on some music and again, breathe deeply. For each of these suggestions please make sure the children are asleep. I usually use soft type of skin softening soap or exfoliant to wash away stress. I usually use Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub, however the one my sister just put me on to, is called Dove Exfoliating Body Polish Body Scrub. I love this product. It leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished.

While I am in the shower I exfoliate first, throughly from neck to toe. Then I use either regular dove for gentle skin Dove Beauty Bar or my new fave, Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Body Wash. The shea moisture raw shea butter body wash is everything. I kid you not, this product has my skin feeling so soft especially after exfoliation.

Ok just wanted to give you guys some affordable options when indulging in self care.

Before Take some time, maybe in the morning, or at night, a few times a week, to take care of your face. There are a host of different DIY home remedies for face mask. (Just a side note, before you apply a face mask you should always cleanse your skin ! I use, Clean and Clear Morning Burst, it’s in a yellow bottle, with little exfoliant beads.) I’ll list some below. However, if you’re not into that type of thing, you can always buy one. Face masks are advertised everywhere, but here are a couple of my top choices.

  • New York Biology Dead Sea Mud Mask. This is not one of those face peel mask. Instead you scoop a little from the jar, and apply to your clean face. I let it sit for about 30-45 minutes before washing it off. This goes great with, a warm bath, a glass of wine, and your favorite podcast or music genre. But as a mommy, you can put this on and still go about your day at home.
  • Blackhead Peel Off Face Mask. Ironically this one is a peel-off mask, that I absolutely adore. The mask goes on wet, drys, and then you peel it off. I would not recommend this product for daily use. I personally use it, once every 1 to 3 months, and sometimes even less. It comes with a brush, and tea tree oil. Thats my favorite part. Tea tree oil has anti-fungal properties.
